LORCA welcomes back six graduates to turbocharge their growth //31.03.21

For the last three years, LORCA has helped 72 cyber startups that have taken part in our accelerator develop their products, achieve a closer-product-market fit and grow in the UK and globally. They’ve raised over £167m in investment, won over 1,200 contracts and earned over £37m in revenue. At the same time, the UK’s cybersecurity ecosystem has thrived. Over the last year, the sector contributed more than £4bn to the economy and attracted £821m in investment. We have a growing cluster of UK scaleups, many of which are on their way to joining the unicorn club. And LORCA plans to help the next generation take their growth to the next level.

In June 2021, our accelerator is evolving. We’re welcoming six LORCA graduates into a programme designed to turbocharge their growth. Plexal’s cyber innovation team, which delivers LORCA, will work directly with the startups to support their growth in partnership with Deloitte and the Centre for Secure Information Technologies (CSIT) at Queen’s University Belfast.

Members will receive mentoring, technical support, connections to investors and help with expanding into global markets. Cohort six will also be connected with industry’s security challenges. Together, we will co-create solutions or iterate existing products and technologies.

Supporting their growth is a network of partners, from investors that make up LORCA’s Finance Forum, tech leaders from LORCA’s Industry Advisory Board, enterprises such as Lloyds Banking Group and Dell Technologies through to cyber hubs such as CyNam and SOSA.

Saj Huq, director of LORCA, said: “Our next phase will see us turbocharging the growth of six innovative cyber startups to help them mature, expand globally and create more jobs. For the UK’s cyber innovation ecosystem to continue growing, it’s essential that we have a critical mass of scaleups that the next generation can follow.”
